Educational program sponsorshipsAs a special way of leveraging the value and visibility of your BBB accreditation, your company may wish to consider sponsoring consumer education efforts. BBB educational programs can provide outstanding public relations benefits to your company. In addition, since sponsored projects are handled by the BBB Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the amount of your educational program sponsorship would be tax deductible as a charitable gift as permitted by law (excluding actual membership dues, which are tax deductible as a business expense). Only BBB accredited businesses are allowed to sponsor BBB educational programs.
Here are a few examples of BBB educational projects:
- Educational brochures: Recently, a major telecommunications firm sponsored an information piece for businesses about choosing telephone and Internet equipment and services. A financial services company sponsored nine brochures and tip sheets on issues affecting seniors. Other prominent firms sponsored brochures about e-commerce and phone cards.
- Educational newspaper ads: A major credit card company sponsored an ad with travel tips for consumers; and a large retailer sponsored ads listing home improvement tips.
- BBB publications: BBB newsletters are often sponsored; likewise, the New York Giving Guide to local charities is sponsored.

Contact UsLatino InitiativeIn partnership with the BBB Foundation, the Better Business Bureau serving Metropolitan New York, Long Island and the Mid-Hudson Region is working hard to develop the capacity, in terms of technology and staff resources, to serve the public in both Spanish and English. In this way, the BBB can better reflect the diversity of New York City and New York State, and better serve both employees and customers of BBB accredited businesses.
Through the BBB Foundation, the BBB is reaching out to Hispanics with bilingual programs that offer significant visibility opportunities to BBB accredited businesses through special program sponsorships. These programs are designed to serve the needs and interests of our community’s Latinos and Hispanics. As with general education sponsorships, gifts to Latino Initiative projects through the BBB Foundation are tax deductible as charitable contributions as provided by the law (excluding BBB accreditation fees, which are deductible as business expenses). Only BBB accredited businesses are eligible to sponsor the Foundation’s Latino Initiative educational programs.
Latino Initiative program sponsorships are targeted to businesses and consumers alike, and cover a wide range of possibilities.
