NYPAS
New York Philanthropic Advisory Service
Why NYPAS?
- The New York Philanthropic and Advisory Service was created to provide easy-to-read reports on charitable organizations in the metropolitan New York area.
- Our goal is to increase public confidence in New York's nonprofit sector and encourage philanthropy.
The Process
- For each charity, NYPAS reviews financial statements, tax filings, annual reports, solicitations, direct mail pieces and other information.
- Based on this information, NYPAS determines whether a charity meets its 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
- NYPAS produces a report on the charity, which is an impartial, factual account of the organization's programs, finances and governance based on the information the organization provides. NYPAS sends a draft of each report to the organization to give it an opportunity to review and comment on its report before we release it to the public. We work with each organization on any areas of concern.
Please Participate
- In the interest of full disclosure and accountability to the public, we hope that you will agree to provide information.
- We publish full reports on over 750 charities in our Online Giving Guide which is available to all on our web site. It is used by the general public, New York Better Business Bureau member companies, numerous foundations, individual donors and members of the local press.
