BBB and Western Union Launch Scam Stoppers
|
Better Business Bureau and Western Union recently launched BBB Scam Stopper, an education campaign to help consumers in the United States and Canada avoid common scams that con artists use to commit consumer fraud. On the Scam Stopper website, consumers can find facts and tips to stay informed and help reduce their chances of becoming a victim of a scam. Visitors can also sign up to receive BBB Scam Alerts, weekly emails with the latest scams reported to BBBs across the country.

On November 14, 2012, from noon to 9:00 pm, the Metro New York BBB Foundation will present its fifth annual "BBB Live" program, with generous support from Popular Community Bank and Univision 41. The 2012 television call-in program will inform Spanish-speaking consumers about identity theft in general, with a special focus on newer types of this common crime, such as tax-related identity theft.
