I am pleased to announce the election of the 2013 Officers and Directors of the Board of BBB Serving Metropolitan New York.Rhonda Joy McLean, Deputy General Counsel, Time Inc., was elected to a second term as Board Chair, effective May 2013, for a term of one year.  In addition to the Chair, the following officers were elected for a one-year term:

Lisa Davis, Sony Corporation of America, as Vice Chair
Edward J. Goldberg, Macy's, as Vice Chair
Michael Portegello, Ernst & Young LLP, as Vice Chair
Valerie Reardon, EmblemHealth, as Vice Chair
Brian F. Doran, Popular Community Bank, as Treasurer

Metro New York BBB to Begin Publishing

Complaint Details in Business Reviews

On July 31, 2013, the Metro New York BBB will begin including complaint details in BBB Business Reviews. Research has shown that consumers are looking for more detailed information on the types of complaints companies receive and how those complaints were ultimately resolved. This change gives the business more of a voice in the published complaints, allowing consumers to observe their response to customer issues directly.  [Read More]
 
Employers Need to Know: Unemployment Status
Now a Protected Category in NYC

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to prohibiting discrimination based on an individual's unemployment took effect on June 11, 2013.   

 

Employment status (or unemployment status) is now a protected class for employment in New York City and cannot be used as a basis for decisions about hiring, compensation, benefits, or employment terms.  [Read More]
