As part of National Consumer Protection Week, the Better Business Bureau serving Metropolitan New York and the Federal Trade Commission’s Northeast Regional Office held a press conference to alert New York area consumers of the top consumer complaints from the past year.
The BBB of Metro New York, covering NYC, LI and counties south of Albany, receives over 65,000 complaints and 2 million inquiries each year. We categorize complaints by Type of Business and then let consumers know which categories received the most complaints. Our Dispute Resolution Program is core to the BBB’s mission of creating a more ethical marketplace. The complaints we receive help us aid consumers by identifying scams and helping consumers make informed purchase decisions.
